Salary: £19.00 per hour
Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week (average 48 hours per week)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Metal & Stainless Steel Welder Fabricator to join our team, supporting projects within the water industry. You will be working alongside mechanical and civil engineering teams to fabricate and assemble high-quality components used in water infrastructure and treatment systems.
Working Hours & Overtime
- Standard working hours: 07:00 – 16:00, with a 1-hour unpaid break
- Weekday hours are paid at the standard hourly rate
- Overtime is typically available to meet project demands
- Weekend shifts are paid at time and a half (£28.50 per hour)
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld mild steel and stainless steel components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Perform MIG and TIG welding to a high standard
- Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and blueprints
- Assemble fabricated parts for installation in water industry projects
- Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and industry standards
- Carry out inspections and basic quality checks on completed work
- Collaborate with mechanical and civil engineers to meet project requirements
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a welder fabricator, particularly with stainless steel
- Strong MIG and TIG welding skills
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings
- Experience working on infrastructure, water industry, or similar engineering projects (preferred)
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in the water or utilities sector
- Welding certifications (e.g., coded welding)
- Experience with site installation work
