SEN Teaching Assistant - Location: Stafford - Start Date: September 2026
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Stafford on a temporary long-term basis, starting in September 2026 with potential to see out the full academic year.
This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a pupil with complex behavioural and emotional needs. To succeed in this position, you must be patient, consistent and confident in managing challenging behaviour while building positive and trusting relationships relatively quickly. You will work closely alongside the class teacher and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the pupil is supported throughout the school day, enabling them to access learning, develop social skills and achieve positive outcomes both behaviourally and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant support for a pupil with significant behavioural, emotional and social needs.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, acting as a consistent and supportive presence throughout the school day.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and interventions in line with the school's policies and individual support plans.
- Work closely alongside the class teacher to adapt learning activities and support the pupil's engagement within the classroom.
- Support the pupil in developing emotional regulation, social communication and positive interactions with peers and staff.
- Promote inclusion and support the pupil's participation in all aspects of school life.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong experience working with children with SEN, behavioural needs or within a challenging educational environment.
- Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
- Is calm, patient and resilient, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and effectively.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
- Is able to follow behaviour support plans and adapt their approach to meet individual needs.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
- Is available to start ASAP.
- Is fully registered to work for Academics.
Pay: £93 - £100 per day, depending on experience and responsibilities. Holiday pay is included in the daily rate.
